草莓视频 is expanding its education offerings by adding a new Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program to help meet growing workforce needs across Oklahoma and the region.

The new distance-learning program prepares students to become Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs) by training them in communication disorders, speech and language development, therapeutic support techniques and patient care practices. The program was developed in response to growing demand for healthcare professionals who can help expand access to speech and communication services, particularly in schools, clinics and private practices.

鈥淎s the need for speech and communication services continues to grow, healthcare providers and school systems are seeking trained professionals who can support licensed speech-language pathologists and help expand access to care,鈥 said Becky Henthorn, 草莓视频 Provost. 鈥淏y offering this program in a distance-learning format, we are creating opportunities for students across the region to pursue a rewarding career while helping strengthen the healthcare workforce in Oklahoma and beyond.鈥

Speech-Language Pathology Assistants work under the supervision of licensed Speech-Language Pathologists, providing therapy and support services to individuals with speech, language and communication disorders. Career opportunities are available in schools, clinics and private practices.

鈥淪peech-Language Pathology Assistants play an important role in improving communication and quality of life for individuals of all ages,鈥 said Dan Moore, 草莓视频 Dean of the School of Health Sciences. 鈥淭his program gives students the opportunity to enter a meaningful profession where they can make a direct impact while serving an important need within their communities.鈥

The program will combine online instruction with hands-on learning to help students develop the technical and interpersonal skills needed for the profession while providing flexibility for working and nontraditional students. Graduates of the program will be eligible to apply for SLPA licensure, with licensure requirements varying by state.
